We didn’t expect to find that in a drain

Drains and drainage systems have been around for millenia but not in the sophisticated manner that we have now. In the past any problems that occurred in the drains would have needed someone to go into the drain (usually a small child) to find out what the problem was. Nowadays we have CCTV Drain Survey Gloucester companies like https://drainawayenviro.co.uk/services/drainage-solutions/cctv-drain-camera-surveys/cctv-drain-survey-gloucester/ who can use their technology to locate problems without someone having to navigate through the main drainage pipes. It also means they can find problems in the smaller drainage pipes in our homes.

There are of course always some very strange items that can be found deep in the sewers. Here are some of the strangest items ever found in drains.

  • Animals – now we have all seen stories of cats and dogs being found in drains and it seems it happens all over the world. Amongst other animals found in drainage systems are ducks, sheep and even a cow.

  • False teeth – these are often found in drains and there are many reasons as to why this might be the case. They can easily fall out or be dropped into toilets etc. They can cause a lot of damage to a drain and can get stuck and contribute to the build of fat and grime known as fatbergs.

  • Jewellery – small items such as rings are also often found in drains as are watches. These often slip off the finger of an individual whilst they are cleaning or come off the wrist when an individual tries to clean out a blockage themselves.
