It is no secret that many bodybuilders have a very close relationship with protein. It makes sense; after all, the body need protein when repairing muscles. Protein is a huge part of promoting muscle growth and, just as importantly, maintaining it, so many bodybuilders try to get as much of it as they can in their diets.

Can the plant-based diet that many vegans rave about measure up to a meat-based diet in this regard? A lot of people dismiss this way of eating based solely on the lack of meat protein. Eating a vegan diet doesn’t mean you are fully eating plant-based. There are plenty of vegan processed foods that aren’t necessarily good for you despite not being made from animal products. In order to truly eat plant-based, it is essential to ensure that what you are eating is coming from natural sources. The nutrients needed for bodybuilding, and good health in general, come from plants. That can be vegetables, grains, nuts and all of the ingredients in a healthy plant-based recipe.

Be sure to stay away from processed foods that will not give you the proper nutrients your body needs to aid in growth and recovery, even if they are vegan. Stick to a plant-based diet for maximum bodybuilding results.
