Catch me if you can

If you’re a bit of a speed demon then you will love the following list of the fastest cars on the planet. They are sleek, stunning and enthrall us with their electrifying speed. Some have given their lives for their love of cars and pushing them to the limits, for example, Ayrton Senna and Paul Walker. Representing the best in modern human engineering, they can make our hearts race and our palms sweat. Let’s take a look at some of the speediest cars in the world:

The fastest car on earth right now is the Koenigsegg Agera R with a top speed of 273 mph and can race from 0 – 60 in a mere 2.5 seconds and holds the world record for reaching speeds of 186 mph in just 11.7 seconds. For Automotive Wiring Looms, visit http://www.rapidfitlooms.co.uk/

The Hennessey Venom GT is next in the list and the car is based on a modified Lotus Exige. It is only 3 mph slower than the Koenigsegg with a top speed of 270 mph. This car will accelerate from 0 – 200 mph in 14.51 seconds due to intercooler upgrades and a single-clutch shift system to speed up gear change times.

Before the Koenigsegg came along, the title of fastest car belonged to the Bugatti Veyron and can boast the fact that it was the first ever production car to exceed 250 mph. It lost it’s title and so introduced the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport model which can travel at speeds of 268 mph. It does this with ease and makes driving comfortable which is unique for a supercar. Even with a price tag of £1.34 million, it has proved to be very much in demand.

The SSC Ultimate Aero is a car made by SSC North America that also held a Guinness World Record for 3 years between 2007 and 2010 for fastest car in the world. It has a top speed of 256 mph and can hit 200 mph easily in 16 seconds. Some negative reviews of the car have included the lack of safety features and that there is no electronic driver aid to assist in controlling the power of the engine.

The McLaren F1 still makes the list even though it’s getting on a bit now. The vehicle gets from 0 to 60 in a mere 3.2 seconds and the aerodynamic design makes the car look amazing too. In 2013, one was sold for a record $8.47 million.

One that you might not have heard of is the Zenvo ST 1 which is made by a Danish company and is the company’s first supercar, produced in 2009. It has a max speed of 233 mph and does 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds so really does pack a punch. It offers some great features including a keyless entry system and telescopic steering wheel adjustment.

A great British classic is the Aston Martin One-77 and it is the fastest road Aston Martin ever made. It has a top speed of 220 mph and hit 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds.
