  • It can take decades for trees to reach their maturity. An oak tree tends to reach maturity after 25-30 years whilst an apple tree will reach maturity in around 10 years. There is no given timeframe as to when trees as a whole will reach a particular age, this always depends on the variety of tree and whether it is a standard size or altered size such as dwarf varieties.
  • Trees have a unique way of communicating with one another by using an underground network of fungi that help to share resources from one tree to another. There is a ‘mother’ tree that is at the centre of every network. These neighbour networks are also used by the trees to warn one another about pests that might be attacking trees in the area.

  • It is thought that there are over 60,000 trees across the world with around 300 of these species being classified as critically endangered and many more on the endangered list.
