It will increase unemployment and the cost of the minimum wage will be passed onto consumers in the form of higher prices. Most voters don’t think the minimum wage is enough to live on and support President Obama’s proposal to raise it from .25 an hour to an hour. They’re more narrowly divided, however, when asked if hiking the minimum wage will be good for the economy.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% of Likely U.S. Voters favor raising the minimum wage to an hour. Thirty-four percent (34%) are opposed, while 12% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on February 14-15, 2013 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

David Kuhn, producer for the documentary "The House I Live In," joins us with some more insight on the justice system in America.
